Brad Thatcher, President & CEO

From IPOs and crisis resolutions to turnarounds and startups, Brad Thatcher has enjoyed working closely with CEOs, ambassadors, government ministers, university presidents and PR professionals in architecting strategic communications campaigns at all levels. Brad has spent his entire 25+ year career in the agency world serving a diverse roster of clients from his base in New York City. His experience spans three Olympic Games, major technology and telecom transformations, vital nation branding campaigns, cutting-edge higher education initiatives and strategic endeavors on behalf of the local and national media industry. Brad and his team have been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America with three Silver Anvil Awards, the most prestigious recognition in the industry, for cybersecurity awareness campaigns on behalf of The National Cyber Security Alliance and The Obama White House, as well as the groundbreaking Giving Machines philanthropy project of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dennis Watson, Senior Vice President

Dennis Watson is a results-driven senior leader who has spent his 20+ year career working closely with executives across a variety of industries, helping them achieve aggressive public relations, corporate communications and brand awareness objectives. He has led corporate communications and public relations efforts for consumer, B2B and B2C organizations ranging from start-ups to multi-nationals. Dennis has extensive experience in strategic planning, media relations, executive communications, external communications, internal communications, thought leadership and corporate brand building. He has counseled senior leaders on shaping and disseminating strategic corporate messaging to key audiences on major company initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions and visionary campaigns. Throughout his career, he has held senior communications and public affairs positions with global brands that include Samsung and AT&T, has assisted with the Olympics and served in senior positions at a wide variety of global companies including Ribbon Communications and The Regus Group.

McKenzie Hurst, Senior Director

McKenzie Hurst brings more than a decade of experience in public relations and communications to her role as senior director at Thatcher+Co. As one of the earliest employees at the company, which she joined in 2012, she has supported important growth initiatives while servicing a diverse base of clients across industries spanning technology, telecommunications, broadcasting, media/entertainment, lifestyle and more. A seasoned professional, McKenzie is extremely adept at overseeing account teams and managing client relationships. Specialized skills include campaign planning, messaging refinement, media relations, thought leadership, content creation, event support, social media and more.

Eva Nordstrom, Senior Vice President

With over two decades of experience at a variety of national outlets and programs, Eva Nordstrom has led an accomplished career as an Emmy, Peabody, Murrow and Alfred I. duPont award-winning executive producer and managing editor. She oversees broadcast pitching and rapid response at Thatcher+Co. Prior to joining the agency, Eva served as head of CBS News’ Special Events, leading a unit that produced and planned network-wide national news specials including the Democratic Presidential Debate, President Inaugurations, elections, nationally-significant trials, historic space launches and Special Reports for breaking news. She was part of the senior team that launched the award-winning CBS This Morning. Prior to this, she held several successive leadership roles including at CNN as a senior producer at “American Morning,” later as a senior producer for “Anderson Cooper 360” and at Bloomberg TV overseeing afternoon business and financial news programming.

Christina Gillham, Senior Vice President

After nearly 15 years working in journalism, including 10 years as a Newsweek editor, Christina Gillham brings significant media experience and writing, editing and content development skills to Thatcher+Co. She is responsible for strategic communications and media relations for a range of clients in technology, education and the media. She also helped spearhead the annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month campaign in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security and many public and private partners, including Facebook, Intel, Visa, Google and the Better Business Bureau.

Kristin Brocoff, Director

Kristin Brocoff has 25 years of experience in PR on both the agency and corporate sides of the business resulting in a broad spectrum of national, trade and local media coverage related to thought leadership, brand positioning and product launch programs. Based in Las Vegas, Kristen frequently serves as our client’s on-the-ground liaison for trade shows such as CES, NAB and CTIA.

Mark Newman, Senior Vice President

After a 25-year PR agency career in New York City, Mark returned home to Utah in 2019 to lead Thatcher+Co.’s Utah office. He provides hands-on leadership across the agency’s Utah-based clients such as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lion Energy, American Battery Factory and start-ups in Silicon Slopes. As part of the agency’s senior team, he also assists CEO Brad Thatcher in agency operations, focusing on recruiting, career development and productivity investments. Prior to joining Thatcher+Co., Mark Newman was an owner/operator for 25 years at Hunter Public Relations in Manhattan and has spent his career working for well-known brands at companies such as Kraft, Hasbro and Post Cereal. He has been active in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) his entire career and holds an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR).

Tyler Hortin, Associate Vice President

With extensive journalism and PR experience, Tyler Hinton brings a strong understanding of both sides of the business, providing powerful insights to a range of clients, specializing in entertainment and education. Prior to Thatcher+Co., Tyler’s public relations efforts spanned multiple organizations in the entertainment and non-profit sectors. As a skilled journalist, he has written regularly about arts and culture for prominent local and national media outlets, including BroadwayWorld. He also has more than a decade of professional experience in project management, curriculum design/development, editing and event planning, with an emphasis on education and healthcare. Tyler applies his exceptional attention to detail to ensure the optimal success of each client initiative. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in public relations.

Peter Tichansky

President/CEO, BCIU | New York City
Peter Tichansky is the President/CEO of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), a non-profit 501(c)3 business association established in 1955 as a people-to-people initiative of President Eisenhower. Under Mr. Tichansky’s direction, BCIU has become a successful U.S. Trade Development Agency Indefinite Quantity Contractor and a provider of commercial diplomacy training to the foreign and civil service.

Dr. Laurie J Wilson

APR, Fellow PRSA | Provo, UT
Dr. Wilson taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in public relations and communications from 1989 to 2014. In 1997, she became the first female chair of the Department of Communications at Brigham Young University. She served nationally to determine curriculum and standards for quality public relations education, including as chair of the undergraduate curriculum committee for the Joint Commission on Public Relations Education. She authored Strategic Communication Planning, now in its 6th edition, and in use in more than 200 universities nationally and internationally. She consults with organizations on strategic communication planning, and with universities in the U.S. and internationally on curriculum, accreditation and certification.

In Memoriam: Howard Bragman

Sadly, our dear friend and advisor Howard Bragman passed away in February 2023. He was one of the most recognized public relations professionals in America and a powerful influence at Thatcher+Co., serving on our global advisory board for many years. With a stunning career spanning over 30 years of agency experience and virtually every aspect of public relations, he inspired countless individuals and organizations through his wit and industry insights.
