Brad Thatcher

Since founding Thatcher+Co. in 2008, Brad Thatcher has steadily grown the firm and built a portfolio of clients in technology, media, education, entertainment, law, nonprofit and government.

In addition to overseeing award-winning national and international awareness campaigns on behalf of the National Cyber Security Alliance and in collaboration with the White House, Brad has unique expertise guiding emerging growth tech companies through major technology transitions, such as telecom’s transition from TDM to IP and broadcasting’s migration from baseband to IP. He’s managed strategic messaging, media training and media relations surrounding multiple acquisitions, carve outs and IPOs throughout his career. Additionally, he regularly represents startups and collaborates with venture capital and private equity firms funding their creation and growth.

Through a strategic partnership with The Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), which was founded by President Eisenhower and industry leaders 60 years ago, Brad has developed unique capabilities in collaborating with U.S. Embassies and countries facing media challenges and opportunities. From Pakistan to Kuwait and Japan to the Republic of Congo, he has organized media briefing efforts in multiple U.S. cities to promote “Business Ambassadors” from each country, resulting in widespread positive coverage of thriving entrepreneurs. Working directly with U.S. Ambassadors and BCIU, his team leverages their leadership to introduce new economic strategies and successful executives from each region to the top business media. Brad has successfully implemented campaigns with Turkey, Bangladesh, Yemen, Jordan, Kuwait, Japan, Pakistan, the Republic of Congo and Sri Lanka, among others.

In addition to these unique public-private collaborations, Brad manages a growing portfolio of media clients. For the Local Media Consortium (LMC), he works directly with local media companies and the LMC leadership to drive awareness and understanding of pivotal issues affecting the industry from campaigns on fake news to innovative digital partnership opportunities for media with Google and Facebook.

Brad has built a thriving presence in the Utah market, where Thatcher+Co. represents the largest media company in the state, including the Deseret News; BYUtv, a cable television network offering family entertainment that parents and kids watch together; and the annual Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square concert, which is co-presented by BYUtv and WGBH in Boston and has been the most watched holiday program on PBS for 12 of the last 13 years. In education, Brad’s team represents Utah Valley University, the largest university in the state, and the BYU Law School.

Before creating Thatcher+Co., Brad was President of Coltrin & Associates, where he led teams behind three Olympic Games, the launch of the PSP for Sony, the spinout of Palm from 3Com and the early buzz surrounding online family history giant Ancestry.com. Mr. Thatcher’s client experience also includes Ericsson, Burger King, ADP, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s.

As part of the team that won the agency-of-record contract for the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games, Mr. Thatcher gained first-hand experience from one of the great organizational and communications turnarounds. In addition to supporting Mitt Romney’s efforts behind the Salt Lake Organizing Committee, he focused heavily on leading Olympic sponsor communications for three Olympic Games, including World Wide IT Partners SchlumbergerSema in Salt Lake and Atos Origin in Athens and Torino.

Brad lives in Montclair, N.J., with his wife Elizabeth and their three children. He holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Brigham Young University and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
