Leading Transformational Change Across the Broadcast Industry

The Challenge

When transformation specialist Charlie Vogt joined Harris Broadcast as CEO in Q3 2013, he recognized that a major generational technology transformation was about to take place in the media broadcast industry. As consumers increasingly moved toward anytime, anywhere viewing, traditional media players needed to transition their infrastructures to IP, software and the cloud in order to remain competitive, but there was no industry leader offering the vision and technical pathway to do so. To position the company as the visionary force behind the future of television, Vogt enlisted Thatcher+Co. to lead a broad strategic communications program.

As Vogt radically transformed the company in his first 18 months –splitting it into two separate companies (Imagine Communications and GatesAir), completing four acquisitions, hiring a new management team, aligning their product roadmap for the future, and forging partnerships with the IT industry elite – Thatcher+Co. enlisted an ambitious and comprehensive communications strategy to earn the company greater mindshare among customer, partner, business and investor audiences. From global newsmaker events to content creation to social media, Thatcher+Co. catapulted Imagine Communications and its management team to front pages of media that mattered.

As the industry catches up with fast-following “us to” strategies, Thatcher+Co has continued to position Imagine Communications as the company on the forefront of the industry’s transformation, and the only one with the vision, know-how and innovation that media companies need to deliver the future of TV.

The Results

Following a watershed announcement with Disney/ ABC Television – the first major global broadcaster to announce that it was moving its linear broadcast operations to the cloud – Thatcher+Co. secured a segment for Charlie Vogt on ‘Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo’ to discuss how the deal validated Imagine’s vision and technical pathway for supporting the future of TV.

Thatcher+Co. continues to showcase Imagine’s leadership with ongoing, in-depth feature stories including an interview of Charlie on KERA’s “CEO Show,” which was syndicated by PBS and NPR; and recent cover stories and profiles in the Dallas Business Journal (which named him a “Power Player”), D CEO magazine and global trade publications.

Imagine Communications’ ImagineLIVE events at global tradeshows NAB and IBC have drawn tremendous reception, with Thatcher+Co. helping to draw between 70- 120 media and analyst attendees from across the globe.
