BCIU has conducted more than 200 international trade and investment promotion events every year since its founding by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1955.

The organization is a premiere business association supported by 200 corporate members, including many iconic companies spanning the globe such as Coca-Cola, Google, Citigroup, Boeing and Pfizer. Thatcher+Co. and BCIU’s partnership specialty is promoting international understanding through dialogue and action by organizing media briefings and roadshows as well as off-the-record discussions between senior government officials and key business executives on issues of common concern. We do this by facilitating public-private partnerships in the global marketplace and by assisting stakeholders with problem-solving in turbulent situations and emerging markets. BCIU provides an ongoing venue for its member companies and potential investors to interact with heads of state, chiefs of government, cabinet ministers and senior officials of multilateral and international organizations. BCIU has extensive contacts in the power sector, including with project developers, renewable energy, smart grid, utilities, infrastructure investors, EPC firms and equipment suppliers. BCIU works closely with EXIM, OPIC, USTDA and the World Bank. BCIU has offices in New York, Washington and London and senior advisors in 10 countries.
